Geo Vision Surveying Inc serves Cambridge homeowners, businesses, designers and contractors with surveying, including existing-conditions surveys for design, construction layout, grading measurements, as-built surveys and monitoring. When surveying Cambridge sites, we focus on small and midsize projects, from a residential addition or new home to a commercial renovation, a parking area or a contractor’s foundation and site works.

Surveying Cambridge projects: residential, commercial and contractor

Residential: additions, new homes and lot changes

Homeowners and designers often need a topographic survey before drawings start, showing grades, the existing house, trees, hard surfaces and visible services. Once the plans are approved, we lay out the work and check grades as it goes in. → Topographical surveying

Commercial: existing-conditions and site work

For commercial renovations, parking lots and site improvements, we document the existing site and, where useful, scan buildings with SLAM LiDAR so the design team works from a detailed 3D record. → LiDAR surveying

Contractor support: layout, grade checks and as-builts

Contractors need marks they can build from and quick answers when site conditions change. We set out footings, foundations, offsets and elevations from the approved drawings, and record what was built for the project team. → Construction surveying · As-built surveying

Grading measurements

We measure existing, rough and finished grades and compare them with the approved grading information. We provide the measurements and survey data. Grading and drainage design by an engineer or designer isn’t included in our surveying service. → Grading surveying

Monitoring and drone surveying

Where excavation or construction is close to existing structures, monitoring surveys track movement over time for the engineer. On larger open sites, drone surveying can capture site-wide mapping where airspace rules allow. → Monitoring surveying · Drone surveying

Working with your Cambridge project team

Surveying Cambridge projects means working alongside your designer, engineer and contractor. We confirm the scope, the deliverables and the file formats with you before field work starts, then send the measurements to whoever needs them next. Ask us about recent work similar to yours when you request a quote.

City of Cambridge permit drawings

The City of Cambridge lists a “lot grading and site service plan” among the drawings for residential building permits, and a lot grading plan for multi-unit and non-residential permits. A commitment form signed by the grading designer may be needed where applicable. Projects that need Site Plan Approval go through that process first. The City’s online Application Navigator explains the requirements for a specific property, so confirm what applies to yours. When surveying Cambridge properties for a permit, we provide the existing and as-constructed measurements behind those drawings. We don’t prepare grading designs, and survey data doesn’t guarantee permit approval.
